DDoS attack..

A denial-of-service attack (DoS attack) or distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS attack) is an attempt to make a computer resource unavailable to its intended users. Although the means to carry out, motives for, and targets of a DoS attack may vary, it generally consists of the concerted efforts of a person or people to prevent an Internet site or service from functioning efficiently or at all, temporarily or indefinitely. Perpetrators of DoS attacks typically target sites or services hosted on high-profile web servers such as banks, credit card payment gateways, and even root nameservers. The term is generally used with regards to computer networks, but is not limited to this field, for example, it is also used in reference to CPU resource management.

DDoS attack is a Distributed-Denial-of-Service attack, an attempt to make a computer resource can be used by its user, by using thousands of zombie systems 'attack' at the same time. Negative goal, ie to a website or online service can’t work efficiently or even die at all, temporarily or forever. DDoS attack is one model of DoS (denial-of-service) attack.

Target DoS attack can attack directed to various parts of the network. Able to routing devices, web, electronic mail, or Domain Name System servers.

There are 5 basic types of DoS attacks:

1. Excessive use of computer resources such as bandwidth, disk space, or processor.
2. Disruption of configuration information, such as routing information.
3. Disruption of the status information, such as forcing me to reset the TCP session.
4. Disruption of the physical components of the network.
5. Media hinder communication between computer users and therefore interfering with communication.

DoS attacks include the execution of malware, which is intended to:

* Maximizing the processor work, so blocking tasks other.
* Triggering errors in the microcode.
* Triggers an error in the instruction sequence and forcing the computer becomes unstable and locked-up.
* Utilizing errors in the tails operating system on the 'death' system.
* Create a crash the operating system.
* IFrame (D) DoS, in which there is an HTML document that deliberately to visit web pages to high kilobyte repeatedly, until the bandwidth limit.

The symptoms of DDoS attacks:

* Decreased network performance. Not as usual, opening files or accessing the site became slower.
* Certain features missing on a website.
* Web site completely inaccessible.
* Increasing the number of spam emails received very dramatic. Denial of this type is often termed a "Mail Bomb".

An example of DoS attacks:

1. February 2007, more than 10,000 online gaming servers such as Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Halo, Counter-Strike, the group attacked by hackers "RUS". DDoS attack from over 1000 computers located in the former Soviet Union countries. Most come from Russia, Uzbekistan and Belarus.
2. July 2008, a lot of blogger's blog, conservative bloggers, including Macsmind.com, felt a DDoS attack attack until some forced to offline. This attack is associated with the 3 IP addresses to be registered through GoDaddy.com barrackobama.com, the official website of the U.S. presidential candidates Democrat, Barrack Obama. Previously, some Obama supporters are also attacking sites Hillary Rodham Clinton supporters by using google.com. Until August 8 yesterday, the origin must attack remains unclear, but Obama or his campaign team considered to be involved personally.
